India’s vision for becoming a five trillion dollar economy by 2024,has to be backed by strengthening & integrating the rural economies.Rural areas offer untapped potential crucial for economic growth, and further developmental strategies have to be grounded in an understanding of the rural environment and its sustenance.Nevertheless considerable innovations emerging from the rural front fail to see the lime light owing to lack of exposure and inexperience in translating their innovations to viable commercial propositions. Here lies the decisive role of technology and business Incubators like ICAR-CPCRI AgriBusiness Incubation Centre and Kerala Startup Mission to create business ecosystem addressing the issues hampering the growth of Rural India.

Dream-Big Kalpa'is organized at ICAR-CPCRI every year since 2015 to bring together scientists and industrialists in a single platform. The 2020 edition of Dream -Big Kalpa will have the presence of scientists from other ICAR-research Institutes and Incubation Centres and thus will make it as a technology sourcing fair. Those who wish to establish agribusiness based on agricultural technologies and products available with ICAR institutes are welcome to participate int this programme.

Exact problemSelection of scion and root stock is manually. Robot arms may hold the two plants and chop desirably and then graft.

Challenge description with contextCoconuts of different maturity are being harvested for different purposes: For instance, 7-8 months old nuts are harvested for tender nut purposes; 10 month old nuts are harvested for making coconut chips and 11-12 month old nuts are harvested to make copra. The automated harvesting devices should have a mechanism to identify the stage of the nut.
Exact problemA device to detect the maturity of nut in a bunch before harvesting.

Challenge description with contextA typical multiple cropping system consists of various perennial and annual crops. Farmers has been following sprinkler irrigation since it covers the entire farm and is easy to operate. However, at a time when scarcity of water occurs drip irrigation is the only alternative. Water requirement of each component crops in the farm would be different. The challenge is to provide irrigation to each component crop as per their requirement and time.
